From the anchor to the hot face.
A lining is only as good as the anchors under it and the inspection after it. We work across the whole refractory package, so each stage is done with the next one in mind.

Brickwork, hand placing, ramming, gunning and casting, with castable, ceramic fibre and insulation systems.

Built for plant that runs hot, and can't stop for long.
Our work centres on refinery FCC units and the plant around them. The same crews and methods serve kilns, incinerators and boilers in petrochemicals, power, cement, aluminium and steel.

03 Recent work
Thermal oxidiser: replacing only what had failed.
The lower ceramic-fibre lining had failed and a liquid sample measured pH 1. Rather than strip the whole lining, we cut back to sound fibre and relined the lower section with new ceramic modules.

Raffineria di Milazzo
Sicily, ItalyInspection and installation supervision on the 2019 FCCU turnaround and the 2021 shutdown, then a two-year inspection contract from 2022. Inspected a new thermal reactor at the OCS workshop in 2023, and reported on the hydrogen units, sulphur reactor and boilers in 2024.

A family firm that came up on the tools.
RCSL is led by Ron Ramsell, a time-served sheet metal worker and welder who has spent his career on FCCU reactors, regenerators, hydrocrackers and transfer lines. With previous employers he led the refractory installation of five new-build FCC units, and he has worked in 16 countries. Andrew Ramsell runs operations and finance.
